The Brief

Reed had two separate websites, one for desktop and one for mobile. To improve the overall user experience they wanted to merge both sites into one responsive website, including a complete redesign of look and feel.

Challenges

There were many inconsistencies in user flows between the two websites, causing major usability issues. Also, users were complaining about lack of control over email correspondence from Reed and general difficulty finding features such as job alerts, sharing their profile and reading job posts.

What we did

Our UX designer was responsible for the main section of the Reed website: The job seeking As part of their role they conducted the following:
* A complete site UX critique, including all user flows, features and usability issues
* User research, personas, usability testings of new features and layouts
* Website architecture redesign based on my research and testings.
* Website full responsive redesign

They worked closely with UX and UI designers in other departments (such as recruitment and courses). We held a weekly meeting where we shared updates and progress on current and future work. This was crucial as our individual work dependant and affected the entire website.

Results

Reed is still the UK’s no.1 job board. The fully responsive website is now live and being used by millions. Usability and engagement have increased and there are no more differences between mobile and desktop use of the website.
